A Neglected Means of Grace

Steven W. Manskar, D. Min. is a clergy member of the Minnesota Conference of The United Methodist Church. He was a pastor for ten years until 1999 when he joined the staff of the Leadership Ministries Division of the General Board of Discipleship as Director of Wesleyan Leadership.

I encourage you to read his blog posting on fasting:
http://wesleyanleadership.com/2015/02/18/fasting-the-most-neglected-means-of-grace/

“‘And whenever you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces so as to show others that they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that your fasting may be seen not by others but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you” (Matthew 6:16-18).

About Tom Bolton

I'm a Husband and Dad, a former Enterprise Systems Manager at the City of Milwaukee, and a Disciple and Lay Servant at First United Methodist of West Allis. As I study the Bible, sometimes I feel moved to work through my understanding by writing poetry. I also am continuing to learn in my dialysis experience and pursuit of a kidney transplant. Sometimes I just feel like writing about something that grabs my attention too.
